Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:51 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Elassichthys adocetus (Böhlke 1951) -- (Hubbs & Wisner 1980:534 [ref. 2267]). •Valid as Cololabis adocetus Böhlke 1951 -- (Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:391 [ref. 24555], Collette 2004:2 [ref. 27582], Mundy 2005:283 [ref. 28379]). •Valid as Cololabis adoceta Böhlke 1951 -- (Love et al. 2021:96 [ref. 39279] with question). Current status: Valid as Cololabis adoceta Böhlke 1951. Scomberesocidae. Distribution: Central and eastern Pacific: Hawaiian Islands east to Baja California (Mexico), south to northern Chile. Habitat: marine.
